Potential new deep water oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico-100 mile sheen reported

The U.S. Coast Guard is currently investigating reports of a possible 100 mile & 12 mile wide oil oil sheen 20 miles away from the site of the Deepwater Horizon rig. This would be near the Matterhorn field.

LSU coastal scientist dies at 54

Gregory Stone a prominent LSU coastal scientist died of sudden death on Thursday 18 Feb 2011 at the age of 54. Stone was admitted into intensive care last week for an unknown illness. Gregory Stone was loved by everyone including his students & staff at LSU.
